Purpose
“Birlikte” offers an entertaining educational adventure that highlights the issue of discrimination, focusing on the challenges of social integration faced by migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking children in host countries. These challenges often stem from feelings of otherness, discriminatory discourse, and actions, leading to psychological distress and the loss of childhood. Through “Birlikte,” children from all over the world are given the opportunity to showcase what they can achieve when they work together.
In Turkey, 49.6% of Syrian refugees are children under the age of 18.* “Birlikte” is designed to bring together Syrian and Turkish children aged 11-17, allowing them to get to know each other and their cultures better. By fostering dialogue and breaking down feelings of otherness and competition, it promotes collective living and solidarity. The game provides a space for migrant children to express themselves and rediscover their childhood, addressing language and communication barriers, socio-cultural integration issues, and psychological challenges.
The aim is to break down prejudices against migrants in society, prevent discrimination from becoming learned behavior, and maintain long-term social harmony. The game design incorporates elements such as face-to-face communication, cooperation, breaking down prejudices, cultural sharing and heritage, fun learning, and social harmony, all aimed at achieving the corresponding gains.
